Hardware & Electronics Design recruitment
A role titled "Electronics Engineer" can mean anything from low-level PCB layout to full analog/digital system architecture, and the gap between those two hires is significant. We screen against the circuit-level detail of a brief - power, signal integrity, EMC, the actual tools and stack in use - not the job title on a CV.

Recent work
Principal-level power electronics hire for a rugged power electronics business: power conversion, high-efficiency design and system-level integration. Headhunted rather than advertised, mapped across Europe, accepted offer inside the agreed timeline. The candidate was appointed Head of Design.

Roles we place
What makes a strong Hardware & Electronics Design candidate
A strong hardware or electronics design candidate can usually point to a design they took through more than one stage: schematic capture, layout, prototype bring-up and at least some of the debugging that followed. That end-to-end exposure tends to matter more than depth in a single narrow tool. For roles with a strong signal integrity, EMC or power electronics component, direct evidence, a design that passed EMC testing first time, a power stage that met efficiency targets, is worth more than a general claim of familiarity with the topic. We also pay attention to how a candidate talks about failure: engineers who can describe a design that didn't work first time, and what they changed, are usually more reliable hires than those who present every project as a clean success.
Where the talent sits
Electronics design roles are the most geographically distributed of the R&D disciplines, tracking the wider UK electronics manufacturing base rather than one or two specific clusters - though the same defence/aerospace hubs (South West, South Coast, East of England) still account for a disproportionate share of senior roles. A hybrid working pattern, with some lab or bench time required, has become the norm across most of these clusters rather than the exception.
Typical hiring timeline
For contract briefs we typically go from brief to contractor offered in about 5 days. That's the company-wide figure; niche or cleared roles take longer.
